Earlier this year, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) was sold to the company that runs the UFC. The merger will create a $21.4 billion sports entertainment company led by Endeavor Group Holdings Inc.

The partnership is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the companies, said Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel. He and his team believe that combining WWE with the UFC will create “pure IP ownership” that can take advantage of cross-promotion opportunities.

1. Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor is one of the most famous and successful mixed martial artists in the world. After holding the UFC title in two weight classes, he is known for his trash talk and brutal fighting techniques.

The Irishman has had a turbulent career in the UFC, but has been able to turn his fortunes around. He is currently set to face Michael Chandler later this year, along with a possible rematch with Dustin Poirier.

The deal will close in the second half of 2023. It is expected to be backed by the telecommunications company Comcast and the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

It would also end decades of family ownership. The McMahon family has owned and operated the WWE since the mid-20th century.
