Teacher Access Award – $50000 in Grants to Faculty in the United States

Support research and scholarships in fields of excellence that are not currently receiving external funding. This award is designed to provide modest research support during the time between funding cycles.

Funding is open to full-time, part-time, or adjunct faculty at US-based institutions of higher education (community colleges and two- or four-year colleges/universities). Faculty should create a curriculum that incorporates accessibility concepts and skills.

CREATE Awards

Provides funds to support research projects addressing social issues by developing strategies based on local communities. Funding can support coursework, fieldwork or community-based research including summer internships for students, stipends for project participants from the community and travel expenses.

Open to full-time, permanent, or tenured faculty (including assistant professors, associate professors, and full professors) at US-based institutions of higher education (community colleges, two-year colleges/universities, and four-year universities). Immediate award amounts range from $1,000-$5,000.

Offers UC Berkeley lecturers the opportunity to work with other faculty colleagues from across campus to build teaching and learning tools, templates, and resources for their courses and the entire UC Berkeley community. Participating faculties receive course improvement grants, certificates, and letters from their deans to help support subsequent performance reviews. This is a competitive program. Applicants should anticipate that the majority of their funding will be provided by sources other than this grant. Summary progress reports are due two months after the end of the grant period.

CREATE Innovation Award

A small grant program that provides funds for an interdisciplinary team to explore and pilot educational innovations in all aspects of medical education (content, pedagogy, assessment). This fund is open to faculty from all schools.

The Bailey Innovation Award supports full-time junior faculty who are developing a new and innovative research project that demonstrates a clear potential for generating practical applications or, in appropriate disciplines, for a larger out-of-school grant. This funding is open to interdisciplinary teams and can provide up to $50,000 over 15 months.

This award provides faculty with the opportunity to work with fellow faculty and Teaching & Learning Center staff to design and implement innovative Teaching Scholarship projects that will enhance undergraduate student learning outcomes. The project will also be added to the Teaching Access Curriculum Repository so that it can be used by the entire UC Berkeley community. In addition, each winner will be invited to take part in a series of intensive workshops designed to strengthen their ability to develop and implement interdisciplinary scholarship.

CREATE Technology Award

The CREATE Technology Award is a funding opportunity to support faculty who develop curriculum materials centered on the fundamental concepts and skills of technology accessibility. This may include creating modules, presentations, exercises, or other curriculum enhancements to add to their existing courses. This material will be posted to the Teaching Access Curriculum Repository under a Creative Commons license and made available for other faculty to use (crediting original author).

The fund is intended to promote innovation in teaching and learning and is open to all WSU instructors. Projects must be designed to demonstrate significant academic use of technology, which will be transformative in teaching and learning.

The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology will offer $50,000 to startups founded on the University’s intellectual property that achieve their first commercial milestone, either on the technical side (prototype development) or the business side (regulation track, freedom to operate). Startups with Hispanic Service Agencies, Historically Black Colleges and Universities and/or Community Colleges are strongly encouraged to apply.

CREATE Equity Awards

The CREATE Equity Award is meant to highlight faculty who have made a significant commitment to fostering a just, diverse, and inclusive climate at their institution. This includes promoting diversity, inclusion and equity in their teaching endeavors, scholarships and services. Examples are department-wide diversity panels, the annual DEI symposium, or the creation of affinity networks for students from groups that are underrepresented in their discipline.

Awards are designed to support ways of incorporating teaching about accessibility into existing courses, rather than calling for the development of new courses. Upon completion of their project, recipients will be required to present their work at an appropriate venue within their institution and to make their course materials available in the Teaching Access Curriculum Repository under a creative commons license that allows others to reuse them.

Faculty from Hispanic ministry agencies, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or tribal colleges and universities are encouraged to apply.
